A little preparation goes a long way.
Useful things to gather and questions to bring along.
Before you apply
- Your business at a glance. Describe what you offer, your customers, operating hours and who will run the business.
- Your space requirements. Note the size, location, intended use, target opening date and any equipment or improvements you expect to need.
- Your opening budget. Gather estimates for improvements, equipment, inventory and other startup costs. Separate confirmed funding from amounts you are still arranging.
- Your supporting records. Ask Aaron which financial statements, business documents and other records are needed for the property, and confirm how to deliver them.
- Your final review. Check names, contact details, property and suite, and the application’s signature sections. Keep a copy of what you send.
Questions to take on a tour
- Business fit. What needs to be confirmed about my proposed use, operating hours and any approvals?
- Space and condition. What is included with the suite, what equipment remains and which improvements would I need to make?
- Utilities. What electrical, water, gas, ventilation and internet services are available? How are the charges handled?
- Customer access. How do parking, deliveries, pickup, visibility and signage work at this property?
- Costs and timing. What charges should I confirm beyond base rent, when could the space be delivered and what are the next steps?
